Banjo's are useful that way. You can use them a paddles, or symaphores for waving nautical messages, or in a real pinch as a musical instrument.

Anyway, I have reached a personal milestone in the number of posts on a thread that I started. Hence this final (probably) response (to sort of put me over the top) .
The first ever round the world voyage was in a Banjo
Russell, when i read this, it reminded me of my cousins at the camp in winter time, they had attached a large frying pan with a rope behind the snowmobile and one of them sat his b*tt in the pan and the other drove the snowmachine. The link? It's the sound the frying pan made when hitting small rocks under the snow ,ping tang pong!
The banjo is very under-appreciated. Do some research. I wouldn't be surprised to find that there is a connection to advanced space travel, medical breakthroughs, better highways, better pizza, penny loafers, calimari, etc. etc. etc. Or not.

Ron
Ron, Banjo changed the world forever, especially on the quality of glues and other adhesives, when i hear one play, i'm glued to the speaker and my wife can't pull me out!

Serge the southern contengency is going to make you an honorary red neck. This will give you the right to sit around on the courthouse steps and spit and drink PBR in public, and just hang out with the good ole boys.

Can i also get some shares in the oil industry!

John, dunno if the term red neck only applies to southern folks but sometimes, i kind of picture myself as northern cowboy for the way i use to drive my old pontiac 6000! it also was the number of holes that gave me air-conditionning in that car! heeeeeee haw! there goes the cowbear!

John,
Jim Grainger at Custom Fretted Instruments can help you out with the sunburst back. He builds banjos and does a great vintage burst.

A banjo player locked his banjo in the back seat of his car when he went to the mall. When he came out, his found that his rear window had been broken and someone had left 2 more banjos in the car.

Bummer.
